Thanks for your thoughts. I agree that, with some people, there is pre-divorce “drama.” However, separation and divorce are not one-size-fits-all. My impetus for this essay was the assumption that someone can look at those two words — “currently separated” — and make an informed judgment about my situation. Of course, they cannot. If a woman dislikes my dating profile because I don’t want to have kids, or she isn’t a cat lover, or I write with too little brio, fine. But if she likes my profile, and is warned off by those two little words, then she is making a mistake.
